About the Calcium Test
This test measures the level of calcium in your blood. Beyond bone health, calcium is vital for muscle contraction, nerve signalling and heart rhythm, and your body keeps it within a tight range. Levels that are too high or too low can indicate problems with the parathyroid glands, kidneys, bones or vitamin D, making calcium a useful part of a broader health assessment.
Preparation and turnaround
A venous blood sample is taken; fasting is sometimes requested, and our team will confirm when you book. The test takes only a few minutes and results are usually available within one working day. Because calcium is tightly regulated, abnormal results are best reviewed by a doctor, often alongside vitamin D and kidney tests.
